Super scanner instead of peppermint paste

The most revolutionary invention in dentistry is called iTero, comes from the USA and is state of the art in imaging technology. The trend-setting Eltz Institute is already using several iTero Scanner: "This 3-D scanner takes true-to-life digital dental impressions, which can then be used to produce invisible aligners" says orthodontist and founder of the center, Dr. Maija Eltz. This is a great relief for the patient: "Many people do not hold the cold metal aligner in their mouths and the sticky alginate or silicone mass that is normally used to make a dental impression," says the doctor. "They get nausea or even panic attacks because they cannot breathe and swallow normally."

With iTero everything is very simple: the doctor moves the scanner tool over the rows of teeth and the built-in laser drives the data onto the computer. Nothing escapes the sensitive scanner head: The iTero also records irregular surface precision at top speed and in high resolution. Using the digital information, perfect aligner can then be created - without the tell-tale remnants of peppermint or pineapple paste on the patient's face or on the crisp white doctor's coat. "The procedure not only takes half as long as the manual creation of dental impressions, the error rate when creating the aligners is also seven times lower than with the conventional method," says Dr. Eltz. This is a real innovation and makes life easier for doctor and patient.
